Look Up. Look Up in the Sky

2023, VR loop 04:19, audio, mixed media

The project took its first shape during the time the world started to open up again from the pandemic. Due to this, it symbolises a journey to self-discovery, coming out of a dark winter and escaping a collective trauma. This artwork places the viewer onto a fictitious ambient summer field, which in its eternal loop reflects on times of childhood innocence and fascination. The VR provides a safe meditative environment, questioning where we as humans could go next. It invites the viewer to daydream and take time off from external stress to find answers within. Parallelly, the fragmented physical sculptures all reflect landscape motifs, in which it is questionable how true to life or artificial they are. In their spiky, harsh forms, they are in constant search of a digital salvation, a safe place away from the dangers of the real world.

"Look Up. Look Up in the Sky" was funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media in the program NEUSTART KULTUR Module D – Digital Mediation Formats.
